About Zoe Balfour

 

Zoe grew up in Wales a small country next to England. She has danced all her life, starting early with Scottish Sword dancing to the music of Bagpipes. Currently her passions are International Standard and Argentine Tango. As a competition dancer she won silver medals in both Standard and Latin in the 2002 Gay Games in Sydney and was ranked between 3rd and 7th in the world in Womens Standard ballroom from the Gay Games 2006 till the Gay Games 2010, her dance partner Citabria Phillip and she retired the partnership undeafted champions in the US continent. She also achieved 6th in the world in Latin Ballroom at the Out  Games 2006. She has won the Womens North American Ballroom Champions title 5 years in a row with her dance partner Citabria Phillips and they also won a gold medal as Senior Womens Ballroom champions in 2009.

Zoe has been teaching dance for 30 years in America and Britain. She teaches Standard Ballroom, Latin, Line Dancing, Country and Western, East Coast & West Coast Swing, Night Club 2 Step, Salsa and more. In line with her advocacy of Same Sex Dancing Zoe
coached 30 men and women in their quest to compete in the 2006 Gay Games and another 12 at the Copenhagen Outgames of 2009. They all achieved their goals. She also enjoyed her time as a dance instructor on Olivia Cruises.

She choreographs routines and creates and trains dance formation teams to perform
at various events and competitions like SF Pride Parade, Sistah Stepping in Pride, April Follies, California Dreaming, Dancing in the River City, Sundance Stompede, Abrazo Queer Milonga, Gay Games and Outgames.

Zoe teaches at the Same Sex Partner Dancing Series on Monday and Tuesdays evenings classes which she started in 2003 and the Same Sex Ballroom Dancing on Sunday.

She loves choreographing and teaching wedding dances and giving Private lessons to individuals, couples and groups. She is also available
as a DJ for special events.
